Abstract

This article examines the importance of using assessment in STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), in primary school teachers (Kindergarten to 12 years old), to assess their degree of readiness, attitudes, their perceptions and knowledge about the strategies, resources and teaching objectives for the integration of STEAM education in the curriculum. The most popular types of Rubric Assessments are presented, in order to highlight them as a dynamic and innovative tool in terms of pedagogical benefits deriving from their use and in this case in the evaluation of the performance of the teachers themselves. Using Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM), teacher performance is modeled. In addition, the need for research data on K-12 STEAM education, regarding the perceptions and needs of primary school teachers, is highlighted.
