This project will develop the innovative PaloAnalytics platform that will allow companies and organizations,
which operate in many countries, to monitor and analyze in depth the markets' interest to their products
and successfully plan their marketing and communication strategy with data and insights collected from all
the local media and presented in a common language, English. PaloAnalytics platform will cover the need
of international companies to manage their reputation and compare it with the competitors. It will also allow
them to investigate the impact of their products on consumers across different countries and this will be
achieved with the analysis of content from sites, blogs, social networks and open data. The developed
services will allow companies to identify both positive and negative comments and reports about their
brand name and products and the individual features that formed the public opinion.
The project partners
will explore, design and develop a range of algorithms and tools: 1) to collect and manage large amounts
of data (text, multimedia and links) from online news sources, social networks and open sources, 2) to
extract knowledge from textual references e.g. emotions, trends, influences, impact, results and
interactions in a multilingual environment, 3) to link exported knowledge together and present it using
infographics and user friendly visualisations. The collaborating research organizations will design and
exploit state-of-the-art technologies in the fields of data mining, deep-learning and social networking
analysis and will give PaloAnalytics the competitive advantage over its international competitors.
In particular, the project will develop innovative research services such as: (i) intelligent data collection
tools from social media, news crawling agents with self-correction and adaptation capabilities, and open
data sources; (ii) higher level analysis services of the multilingual content that extract topics, trends,
emerging news, opinions, entities and features, using multilingual information extraction algorithms, and iii)
intelligent analysis of the public opinion, of the trends and networks formed and their influence to the
opinion of the public for a brand or specific products (social network epidemics). These services will be
integrated into the new PaloAnalytics platform, which will combine - for the first time - all the individual
services on multilingual content. Although PaloAnalytics will cover different geographic areas and markets,
it will provide a homogeneous, analytical, easy-to-use way of presenting the data and the information in
one language - English - by automatically translating all data and metadata using solutions from a
world-leading company in translation services - SYSTRAN. Such a platform, where all data and metadata
are automatically translated into English, is currently not available in the global economy and the relevant
solutions cover only the local needs of each country.
With the contribution of both research teams and PALO engineers, a full development stack based on multilingual content will be developed and expected to attract third-party companies, start-ups, public bodies and researchers to develop new ways to manage business data, set new business models on them, multiplying the benefits for the company and maximizing the impact of the proposed solutions in science or business community.
